Description
IMSAI 8080, 1975
The IMSAI 8080 was a direct clone of the very successful 1st personal computer, the MITS Altair 8800. The company IMS improved the design of the Altair and built a more stable power supply, better ventilation and more robust switches. The IMSAI was introduced in late 1975 and became a tremendous success. The data entry was done via DIP switches in binary code. There was no monitor output, but LEDs. The IMSAI brought the S-100 bus system of the Altair great success. For the first time a design was copied and the "imitation" was even more successful than the original. In 1983 the IMSAI became famous in the movie "WarGames" with Matthew Broderick, in which the IMSAI played the lead role – so to speak. The IMSAI offered here is in good condition. The case cover has a few scratches. The basic funtionality is maintained: values can be stored in memory and recalled. Included are the original IMS CPU and SIO board and 2 memory boards. The machine runs on US 110 volt. Watch & Listen on: YouTube.com/AuctionTeamBreker
IMSAI 8080, 1975
Watch & Listen on: YouTube.com/AuctionTeamBreker
