Early Natural History Original Micrographia "Flea" EngravingEarly natural history folding engraved plate possibly from Robert Hooke's 17th century book, 'Micrographia or some Physiological Descriptions of Minute Bodies made by Magnifying Glasses with Observations and Inquiries', the first full record of microscopic observations made with Hooke's compound microscope. A first edition of this 1667 folio containing 38 folding engraved plates, recently sold at Bloomsbury Auction in London for $26,172. This engraved plate being offered, is number LXXXV printed on hand made laid paper measures approx., 17 1/4" x 22 1/4", with frame measures 18 1/2" x 23 1/2".
