Description
Enveloped in the protective aura of the lion, this serpentine amulet from Egypt's New Kingdom embodies the strength and guardian spirit revered in ancient times. Carved with care, the lion's form is both stylized and evocative, a talisman meant to confer power and status upon its bearer. Such amulets were commonly placed among the wrappings of a mummy to safeguard the deceased's journey into the afterlife. The green hues of the serpentine stone are reminiscent of the lush Nile delta, symbolizing rejuvenation and eternal life, themes central to Egyptian cosmology.
