Description
This is a Tongzhi reign period teapot from the Qing dynasty. Also known as famille rose in the west, this teapots delicate quality is amazing in the painted details and in regards to the overall thin dimensions of the ware. The various portraits display people at leisure and in vibrant colors. The teapot has some obvious use wear with some staining visible and the gold paint on the knob-like handle on the lid being almost all gone. The Tonghzi mark on the bottom is under the glaze which also helps to determine this piece to be authentic. Two exceptionally small chips had been repaired in the past as you can see in the photos. This antique was purchased in Thailand from a longtime collector of porcelain. Yai has been collecting for over forty years. The measurements of the teapot are as follows: 9cm high by 17cm by 11cm.
