Description
A Wanli reign bowl from the Ming dynasty of ancient China 1573-1620. This bowl has a Wanli floral motif at four corners on the outside of the bowl and one in the center of the inside. The bowl has a wobble as seen in many ancient Chinese bowls and some small cracks from the porcelain being too dry while still working the piece before firing. An interesting addition to that aspect are the three fingerprints on the interior motif from the creators small hand approxiamately five hundred years ago. This bowl has one hairline crack and no significant chips. The glaze is still very strong in its shine and there is some use wear visible. The lovely crosshatch pattern on the upper interior near the rim is a pattern used in different reigns throughout the Ming dynasty. The mark on the bottom is also a common mark that has been used over multiple Ming reigns. The bowl was recently purchased from a collector in Ayutthaya, Thailand. The collector also known as Yai, has been collecting for over forty years. The measurements are 15.2cm wide by 6.9cm high.
