Description
Southeastern Italy, Ca 4th century BCE. Set of 3 pottery salt dishes uncovered in a Daunian tomb in 1944 by Byron Farwell, and later (1953) published in a book on his collection. Each salt is of simple, traditional form with low foot, glazed black to brown, one with suspension holes near rim, one with suspension holes at base. 4" across for largest.
