Mid 19th century, Paris, stamped ''TAHAN fournr. de l'Empereur'', of gilt-bronze, lapis and black stone, the paneled domed hinged lid opening to reveal a velvet-lined interior, over a conformingly decorated body with griffin heads to the four corners extending to acanthine scrolled feet, 5.75'' H x 9'' W x 6'' D, est:$2500/3500

Condition
Generally good condition for age. With marks, scratches and rubbed wear commensurate with age and use. Lid with scattered minute chips along edges and with restorations to two corners of lid, with corresponding small losses to one corner. Eight small dings along front top edge of body where lid touches. Scattered dark spots to mounts. Velvet lining a later replacement.
