TWO LARGE STAFFORDSHIRE TOBY JUGS, BY SHORTER & SONS, ENGLISH, 20TH CENTURY, each of hand painted polychrome glazed decoration and impressed with "Shorter England" on the underside along with "Genuine Staffordshire / Hand Painted / Shorter & Son Ltd. / England" printed in black. One impressed "Old King Cole" to base, the seated King with an empty bowl in his lap, a pipe in one hand, his crown tilted on his head, a violin shaped handle to his back, height: 10", width: 6", depth: 7". The other impressed "Beefeater" to underside, the seated man dressed in typical burgundy and gold coat, holding a frothy mug and a walking stick, height: 8 3/4", width: 5", depth: 6".
