Persian manuscript.- [History of Persian Kings],manuscript in Farsi on paper, 160 ff.,written on versos only, 6 lines, a few pencil transcriptions, attractive 19th century red panelled morocco, gilt,little rubbed, presentation inscriptions and notes, inside covers, 4to, ? Iran, mid to late 19th century, Provenance: Inscribed inside front cover: 'E.H. Minns from E.G.B., Christmas 1917' E.G. Browne (1862-1926), eminent Persian scholar, author of a Literary History of Persia (1902-24) and Persia, aYear amongst the Persians (1893). Sir Ellis Hovell Minns (1874-1953), archaeologist and palaeographer, Sanders reader in bibliography, and first Disney Professor of Archaeology at Cambridge (inscription, and bookplate inside back cover). Inscribed to the eminent Orientalist Christopher Gandy on back free endpaper 'To Mr Gandy as a souvenir of our firm friendship. London May 10th 1962 Ali Moshiri', repeated in Farsi. Alis Moshiri, perhaps a member of the well-known family of singers from Iran.
***Apparently unpublished history of the kings of Persia, in a style of Farsi, consciously avoiding arabic influence, perhaps connected with court circles..
