Item Details
Description
Two-piece dark blue suit, comprised of sleeveless zippered jumpsuit and two button suit jacket, both in the Italian wool gabardine blend used by designer Bill Belew for all of Elvis' performance clothing. Belew's I.C. Costume Company label is present. The black satin-lined jacket has a standing Napoleonic collar, two picket flaps, back pleats, and of course - the piece de resistance - embroidered vertical pointed tabs (not unlike ties) of varying lengths, set one next to the other in an orange, white, beige and gold pattern. Correspondingly piped in a similar pattern, having a gold lame inset at the flare. And although the jacket's satin lining is, not surprisingly, sweat stained (Elvis' sweat of course), the overall condition is excellent. This suit was worn by Elvis while performing in concert at Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro on May 6, 1975; Macon, GA on April 24, 1975; Atlanta, GA May 1, 1975; Tampa, FL April 26, 1975 as well as in Las Vegas the same year. Obtained by Jim Curtin from the woman who originally obtained the suit from one of Elvis' body guards (David Leach) - see the informative accompanying letters from Vernon Presley which claims that the suit was stolen, but allowing her to keep it. One of the last suits available to the public. There are only 15 suits known outside Graceland, most held by museums and not for sale. Accompanied by letter of authenticity from Jim Curtin.
