This figural head was carved from a single piece of stone, that appears to be black marble, or other heavy stone. The carving has a primitive style, and is nicely adorned with floral design on top, jewelry at the ears, and tribal markings at the face. * The decorations around the hair appear to be shells, so the origin of this head might be from a coastal area. It is quite large, and its dimensions are 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. The condition overall is excellent. * * * This is a fine carving for anyone who enjoys native tribal art.
