Description
An early 20th Century Bing clockwork tinplate twin funnel gunboat - "H.M.S. Terror" made by Gebruder Bing of Nuremberg, the grey finish tinplate body with twin masts, with white ensign and pennant, and one single forward gun and four side guns, white ensign to prow of boat and with one of two lifeboats hung to sides, with original clockwork mechanism and original key, 20ins overall, 12ins high, complete with original four wheeled trolley
Provenance : Remained in the same family ownership, thought to have been purchased in 1907 and filmed for the BBC Antiques Roadshow from Hampton Court, shown Sunday 17th October 2004 with Hillary Kay, and subsequently sold by Christie's, South Kensington Auction 2nd June 2005 as lot 142
