The U.S. Bank hen tries to defend the flock of "branch bank" chicks against Andrew Jackson, the jack ass, and Martin Van Buren, the fox. Francis Blair, the editor of the Globe, is depicted as a pig wallowing in a dung hill of lies. Five members of the "chained" press sing the praises of ass Jackson who exclaims to rooster Jack Downing: "Sing away Major Downing. This is a capital Experiment by the Eternal!" It measures 17" x 13" and was drawn by Esop, Jr. and published by Imbert's Caricature Store in New York. Save for some minor damp stains along the top and irregular trimming, it is in very fine condition.
