Description
A late Victorian cased silver christening mug, of tapered cylindrical form, slightly raised on a circular foot rim, with plain scroll handle and bright-cut engraved geometric design. Personal engraving "Penton, 1900". Hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham, probably 1891. Height measuring 2 3/4 inches (7 cm). Weight 2.63 ozt (81.9 grams). With fitted case.
Condition
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Hallmarks worn. Significant discolouration/tarnish. The mug has shallow dents and is slightly out of round. The outer casing is worn.
