Item Details
Description
Victorian silver salver of circular form, engraved to the centre with scrolling foliage and trailing leaf patterns, within an inner oval pierced border and a raised outer border with oblique gadrooning to rim interspersed with foliate motifs, the whole standing on four splayed feet with conforming decoration, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons (James Willis Dixon), London 1875, diameter measuring 10 7/8 inches (27.5 cm); together with a pair of plain silver dwarf candlesticks, hallmarked Birmingham 1925 and 1926. (3).
Condition
The salver displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There are deeper scratches visible to some areas, especially some areas to the centre of the tray and also various minor nicks in the metal. Pitting marks to the underside. Engraved decoration to centre still appears fairly good with only slight loss of detail in places. The hallmarks are clear and legible. The candlesticks are in poor condition with numerous dints and creases in the metal. Some wear to hallmarks but still legible.
