Description
George III silver caster of vase form with reeded borders, the detachable lid with simple hole piercing and punch engraved bands, the body raised above a square footed base. Hallmarked Charles Fox I London 1802. Height measuring 6 inches (15 cm), weight 3.2 ozt (99 grams).
Condition
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible, the lid has the maker's mark and lion passant only, full hallmarks to the neck of the body. A later amendment to the condition report - there are some small surface dints visible and a seam line visible to the short stem. The finial of the lid is slightly off centre, indicating a possible repair or it may just be as made.
