Print Type: Photogravure Image size: 8" X 11.5" Verso: Photo gravure by Jahan - Notre Dame (pictured) Plate Printer: la Neogravure, France Print Year: 1937 About the artist: Laure Albin-Guillot: Laure (Meffredi) Albin-Guillot was born in 1879 in Paris and resided there until her death in 1962. She married Dr Albin-Guillot a scientist and photographed his research creating abstract compositions she called "decorative micrographs." She was also very well known for her nudes of both males and females. First influenced by pictorialism, Laure Albin-Guillot received in 1922 the gold medal contest of the Journal of French photography and played an important role in the New Photography of the 1930s and the advent of the New Vision. Recognized portraitist, she photographed André Gide, Paul Valéry, Jean Cocteau ... and participated in the magazine Arts and Crafts graphics directed by Charles Peignot. Her activities extended into the fields of advertising photography and fashion photography. Named chief archivist of the Archives Photographic Fine Arts in 1932, she organized the National Film Palais de Chaillot in the following year. She died in Paris in 1962. Her works are in museums worldwide
