Orientalist magic shows became the rage at a certain point, arguably starting with a real Chinese magician, Ching Ling Foo and his magician competitors Theo Baumberg, William Robinson, and others. Western magicians vied to create faux-Asian personas and characters as well as Orientalist illusions and shadow work. Shooting at targets was a popular stage effect of the era. Unfortunately Soo died in 1918 on stage, a victim of a fatal mishap while performing the Bullet Catching effect in one of the great tragedies of the theater. NO RESERVE
