A circa 1910 Japanese cloisonné charger or plate measuring 9 1/2" diameter. This is a spectacular plate in terms of color and fineness of the flowers. The flowers include hydrangea with flowers that are SHADED in color, indicating that they have begun to fade; other flowers include marigolds and white lilies. The cloisonné work is exceptionally fine in every respect: the flowers are rendered with very natural lines and colors, in very thinly wired cloisons; the abundance of flowers and foliage and colors indicates a master of the techniques of cloisonné. In addition, the charger features a diaper border of rich and intricate fabric patterns in a splendid variety of colors. This is a tour de force of the art of Meiji cloisonné. The condition is excellent.
