Description
Excellent Remington Model 1875 single action revolver with scarce 5 3/4 inch round barrel. Though produced by Remington to compete with the Colt Single Action Army, the 1875 offered little competition to Colt's government sales, with one of the most significant purchases being just under 650 for the Indian Police, and approximately 1000 units by the Mexican government. Caliber .44 marked on left side of trigger guard. Serial number 722, marked on frame under left grip, under trigger guard, and on loading gate. Gun retains 90 to 95% of original nickel finish, with some light wear on the muzzle, a drag line on the cylinder and some speckled flaking on the frame and ejector housing. Fine bore for the age, with clear rifling grooves. Grips show three notches in left bottom edge, but are otherwise excellent. Action is smooth, with firm cylinder, and strong tight clicks. Exceptionally desirable example, in excellent condition. Caliber: 44-40 WCF Serial #: 722
