this amazing mechanical alligator is the best of the remarkable array of animals created by Decamp in the first quarter of the last century - he is fabricated of numerous materials including painted wood, composition, and cloth - all propelled by sturdy interior clockwork with on/off pull rod, once set in motion he crawls forward with menacing jaw moving up and down as his articulated tail undulates along behind him - we have only seen one or two of these over the years and even though it has some damage at the painted cloth joints and some tape repairs to his wrist he is in pretty remarkable condition
