Description

Vintage Buddha figure by Alexander Backer Co.. Mid-century piece that was sold as a decorative large coin bank for good luck. Made and hand-painted in New York by ABCO. It was meant to be broken thus a piece in this condition is uncommon. Original paper label attached to the felt on the bottom and is engraved on the back. The decal on the bottom reads "ABCO Hand Painted Made in U.S.A Alexander Backer Co N.Y. Co." The Alexander Backer Company made popular of plaster or "chalkware" figurines and wall hangings from the 1930's through 1960's.

Condition

In good condition with wear commensurate with age. Small chip in the upper back of the head. As represented by the pictures.
