HAROLD ANDERSON (AMERICAN 1894-1973), OIL ON CANVAS LAID DOWN, FISHING SCENE, 40" X 30":Depicts a fly fisherman fighting a fish as his dog steals his sandwich from his picnic basket. Signed lower left; framed. Canvas laid down on a wood board.
Condition
shows chips and cracking to the paint, more pronounced at bottom of work; vertical 7" crack in canvas at stretcher, lower left, GA. (Appears to be UV clean; long cracks along left and right edges and along the bottom about 1/8 of the way up (possibly where the canvas had been stretched or was folded over for cropping for an illustration?); nail holes showing along all 4 edges; paint chips in the lower ca. 1/8 of the painting including one going through the end of the 'o' in 'Anderson'; some craquelure; on canvas laid down on a wood board.; painted cream color narrow wood molding frame has 'wear'.
