Description
Mexican Maskmaker [20th Century]. "Mexican Mask [Traditional - 0128]. Negrito Mask, for the Dance of the Negritos, Papantla, State of Veracruz [Mexico]". Hand-carved, hand-painted polychromed natural hardwood sculpture. 1950s. A "danced" mask. Not made for the tourist trade or for sale, but created by the indigenous person to be used only in a ceremonial dance. Overall condition good. Approx. 6 7/16in high, 5 1/2in wide, 3 5/8in deep (168mm x 140mm x 93mm). KM Inv #MA0026. [26530] {K90}
