Printed to the edge of the sheet. Very good impression. Good condition. Provenance: Estate of the Minimalist painter/printmaker Sam Tchakalian (1929-2004). "Mosquito" was printed in black ink, "Mosquito II" (our example) in green ink. De Forest's early prints were issued in very small editions, many not editioned at all, and are very rare. His work sells regularly at Christie's, Bonham's, etc. DeForest's oeuvre evolved through a number of styles, from abstraction to non-objective, from funk to realism. His early paintings were composed of larger, overlapping, amorphous shapes in bright colors. The early prints were not as colorful and were characterized by "Motherwellian" blacks.
