Renamed and Defective Medals: Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Martinique, Guadaloupe (Major John Birch. 90th Foot.) naming contemporarily re-engraved, toned, very fine £300-£400---John Birch was born in Perthshire in 1776 and was appointed Ensign in the 90th Foot, by purchase, on 21 October 1803; Lieutenant, by purchase, 8 December 1803; Adjutant, 1 May 1805; Captain, 14 May 1809; Half-pay, 18 April 1816; Major in the Army, 22 July 1830; Half-pay, 4 January 1839.
