Description
Luminator Floor Light - 1933 (designed)

Painted brass, and cement, 190 cm
Edited by Fontana Arte, Milan

Literature:
Lumières, je pense à vous 1985, Paris, Editions Hermé, p.134 (for a brass version)

Luminator is one of the first creations by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, where he would later become artistic director alongside Gio Ponti. It is one of the first indirect light floor lamps ever designed, composed of a thin metal shaft that opens into a cone, where the light source is hidden. Designed in the early 1930s, this floor lamp is of an astonishing purity in form, quite exceptional for its time.
