Description
He is wearing a tripartite wig and has a plaited beard. He is holding pick and hoe in his rather large, crossed hands, and he has a seed back over his proper left shoulder. The shabti has a back pillar and plinth.
There are no inscriptions, so unfortunately we will never know who this smiling person was.
Dating: Late Period, after 600 B.C.
Dimensions: Height 11.3 cm without base, 14.9 cm including base. The shabti has a beautiful colour.
Provenance: Belgian private collection PDS; previously with Bonhams, sale 11597 of 21 April 2005, part of lot 483; previously UK private collection.
