Description
Pre-Dynastic, 3500-3000 BC. Piriform stone weapon with cylindrical drill hole in center. Once attached to a wooden shaft and used as a weapon to strike at an enemy. The "piriform" or round mace head was used throughout Egypt and the Levante, and replaced the disk-type mace during the Naqada II period of Pre-Dynastic Egypt. Custom stand. Mace head itself measures 2-5/8"D.
