Description
Lamp - c.1970
Resin, brass, and fabric
65 x 37 Ø cm
As the wife of an important plastics industrialist, Marie-Claude de Fouquières made her first piece of furniture in polyester resin in 1969 after failing to find a table to her liking. She subsequently experimented with thick colored polyester resin and created tables, desks, lamps, and panels that quickly became successful among private clients such as David de Rothschild, the Emir of Qatar, and famous decorators like David Hicks, Alberto Pinto, and Henri Samuel.
Her pieces in so-called "exploded" resin - an effect resulting from a specific chemical procedure - are considered as her signature pieces.
