An antique Chinese jade & cloisonne elephant with cloisonne saddle mounts upon which is a carved jade basket of flowers from which a missing red coral pediment stood; the face of the elephant is also banded with a cloisonne strapping; one of the pale green jade tusks is broke as are parts of the cloisonne strapping; the fitted rosewood stand is a finely carved and reticulated design of leaves and vines; the elephant measures 8"H x 8"W; the fitted stand measures 2.25"H x 7.25"W. NOTE: According to Chinese culture, an elephant with a vase on it back symbolizes peace and serenity.
