This Original Oil on Masonite measures 20” H x 30” W and is titled, “Quail Hunt“. The painting is signed lower left Abbett and verso © 1985 Robert K. Abbett. The artist is Robert Kennedy Abbett (1926-2015). The beautifully executed impressionist hunting scene depicts a hunter with his rifle in his hands at rest position with his two pointer bird dogs in a high grown grass field in yellow, oranges, and browns with a leafless tree. The artist uses light tone to create wonderful sense of depth. The background is a cloudy overcast sky with light grey clouds and a field with overgrown brush. The painting is indicative of the artist style and media preferred by him. Frame is an 3 ¾”handmade custom distressed driftwood Skor frame with 1 ¼” silver leaf insert and 5/8” bevel linen liner. The painting is in excellent condition and the frame is in used condition with water damage on the liner.
