He developed a style influenced by the work of Henri Rousseau. In Palestine, he was one of the founders of the new Eretz Yisrael style, with a folk and naive appearance. His subjects were often the biblical landscape, folklore and people. He became quite popular, despite his opposition to the modern art schools of Jerusalem. Today he is recognized as an important figure in the history of Israeli art. His work can be found in many public and private collections around the world. * *
