Description

Chinese Ivory carved temple. This unique piece incorporates two carved ivory parts that connect to form a whole. The stop piece is a 3-story temple with pirced windows, ivory bells, and intricate carvings of dragons around the whole piece. The bottom half of the sculpture takes on the form of an incense burner. Three lion paw feet support the main section, which is heavily carved with the same dragon motif as the top section. Two large scroll handles are on either side, and they are carved with a pierced flower design. Large ivory rings hang from the mouths of food dogs. This is an extremely captivating sculpture. The piece stands atop a fitted base with inlaid metalwork. Measures 28"H, base measures 2 3/4"H.
