Description
Georgian Cut-Glass Rococo Chandelier, 18th century and later, the chandelier with a total of twelve lights, the lower tier with eight lights, and the upper tier with four lights alternating with arms holding cut glass spires, the stem made of nesting sections crowned with a cut-glass canopy, both arms and spires fitted with slip-over drip pans hung with prisms, h. 44", dia. 26". Provenance: Manheim Galleries, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
In very good overall condition. There are no apparent breaks or repairs to the arms. The arms are not hollow to accommodate wiring. The row of pendants from the lower bowl is missing about 7 beads if they are supposed to be of uniform length, and 1 bead if they are to be alternately longer and shorter. The assemblage joining the bottom ball/finial is not correct, and it currently utilizes a brass ring designed for the top of a chandelier. Normal very minor chips and flakes to the edges of surfaces. Not electrified. Does not exhibit any indications of previous electrification.
