A Mandarin's surcoat, Qing Dynasty, 19th/20th Century.The surcoat is worn over a robe by a Qing civil official. The rank badges on the front and back depicts the Mandarin duck of the seventh rank. The surcoat is decorated with fine gilt thread embroideries on the front and back. 142.5cm x 92.5cm.
