Description
31" tall by 29 1/2" wide; impressive marble soda fountain in the form of a cottage which is ornamented by a silver plaque, reading: "The Arctic Soda Appratus Pat. June 30 1863-J.W. Tufts-Boston Mass."; features a hinged lift lid in the roof which gains access for purpose of inside servicing and syrup refilling; 3 large upper taps over 10 lower taps with 12 fancy Victorian labels, all of which are silver plated; interestingly, one reads "Don't Care" for those who arent picky about their flavors; this is sold together with a marble counter on a wooden base, marble corner is broken on that counter-top; only one end is decorated on the cottage with intaglio-cut lines, it appears from the catalog pages these could be purchased in a variety of ways--with or without lines; the front roof is cracked at the roof panel and there is a chip missing off of the rear roof corner; some new bolts have been installed near the corners; rosette covers would nicely hide these; the left tap is a later replacement; this is a great accent to any soda fountain collection; condition G to VG
