Beautiful antique Nativity. This is a set that was added to throughout a lifetime, giving it great variety. Gorgeous handpainted faces, with true attention to detail. The stable with the star measures 14 inches high. Overall there are 18 pieces. 1. A wax baby Jesus with handpainted face and gold foil halo. These are very hard to find and did not often survive, being that they were stored in hot attics and melted. 2. A wood cradle filled with old moss, stamped Germany on the inner leg. Also a hard to find piece due to it's fragile nature. 3. Virgin Mary, stamped Germany on her base. She has a chip on the inside of her bottom, and paint chipping on her blue robe. One paint piece has fallen off. 4. Joseph, stamped Germany on his base. Missing his right arm. Light wear around his base. 5. The stable is thick paper. Handpainted. The overhang is misshapen a bit and has come detached from one leg. Easy repair. The stable is stamped Germany on the back. 6. The tall star with tail. Gorgeous old piece. Stamped Germany on the back. Measures 14 inches high. 7. Large camel. Light wear spots. Unmarked. 8. Large sheep. Unmarked. Beautiful antique animal. 9. Shepard with sheep on his shoulders. Marked Germany on the base. Nose broken off. Light tiny wear around base. 10. Shepherd in more modern clothing with metal staff. Marked Germany on the bottom. Stands with help of metal staff. 11. In near excellent condition. 15. Wise man, white skin. Missing both arms. Otherwise excellent. Marked Germany on the bottom. 16. Wooden bridge. Marked Germany on the bottom.

17. Shepard holding hat on head. Marked Germany on the bottom. Still retains his metal staff. Light wear to base.

18. Dark skin wise man. Very slight wear. Near excellent.

All are made with a combination of plaster, paper mache and wax.
