Union Captain; awarded Medal of Honor for gallantry at Davenport Bridge, Va, May 10, 1864; a career soldier, who evidently made it to the rank of Brigadier General. ALS, "A K Arnold", 2pp (single sheet), Nov 22, 1877, 8vo, New Orleans, to Union General (and Medal of Honor winner) Theophilus F Rodenbough, re a new book. In part, "...in the matter of Photo...will send one which was taken when you and the writer were serving together in Virginia and which probably will bring to mind those stiring times when we 'raided' toward Richmond. Hoping your book will be a success..." Comes with the photograph, portrait in uniform, oval shape, image size 2 1/2"X3", on an engraved mount. Inlaid. First page has transferred impression from the engraving, o/w VG.
