Highly regarded for pioneering kiln cast glass, Colin Reid exhibits internationally, has work in over 45 museum collections worldwide and recently won the prestigious Peoples Prize at the 2010 British Glass Biennale for his piece 'Still Life with Books.' He is an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and an honorary member of the Contemporary Glass Society. The work was acquired from a solo exhibition of Reid's art at the Maurine Littleton Gallery, Washington DC (November 12 to December 6, 1989). In the accompanying catalog Charles R. Hajdamach from the Broadfield House Glass Museum wrote: "In recent years the spiral dominated much of Colin's work often used as a metaphor for the changes and upheavals of his life." This direction was inspired in part by his fascination with Australian Aboriginal use of concentric circles. The German writer on glass, Clementine Schack von Wittenau, took this a step further and defines Reid's work as an arch that is created when "form moving through space links with two points on the earth."
