ZOE SPEDALE ESTATE AUCTION

Zoe Spedale Estate Auction, Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 9:00 am At our auction facility, 609 N. Meridian Street Aberdeen, MS 39730 Stevens Auction Company is pleased to announce the commission to sell at auction the lifetime estate of the late Zoe Spedale of Plaquemine, Louisiana. Mrs. Spedale's husband was the late Dr. Rhodes Joseph Spedale who was a world renowned surgeon and obtained thirteen degrees during his 53 year practice. Dr. Spedale bought their home in 1936 and started a lifelong process of furnishing this historic house. He turned the task over to his wife Zoe with unlimited funds to make the house a show place. She traveled to New Orleans, New York and Europe to find the perfect piece to fit the right spot. Multiple trips were made to Europe each year to purchase artwork from some of the best art galleries in the world. Mrs. Spedale's was a true Southern lady. Her parties were attended by the political and social elite and still talked about today. The house was closed shortly after Mrs. Spedale's death in 1999. Nothing was removed until a month ago when it was carefully packed and moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi. This auction will be exclusively the Spedale collection. No other items have been accepted. There will be approximately 500 extremely rare items including antique furniture, rare clocks including a R. J. Horner grandfather clock, fine china, crystal, Old Paris, Sevres porcelain, listed artist works of art, Victorian wrought iron lawn furniture, old books and some of the finest chandeliers we have had the privilege of selling.
