Our April Estate Antiques and Fine Art Auction: Saturday, April 21st beginning at 10AM.
Featuring the Estate of Joseph Clifton Trees (1870-1943)
Concept Art Gallery is privileged to offer selections from The Estate of Joe Trees. Joe Trees distinguished himself as a star football player at Pitt and became one of the first subsidized college athletes in 1891. Joe Trees went on the board of University Trustees and served as President of the Board in 1916. He is best remembered as one of The Universities? most important benefactors donating substantial funds to many projects including Trees Pool, Trees Hall, and Trees Gymnasium and Field. His generosity was legendary leading to University Officials to coin the phase ?Call on Joe? whenever generous gifts were needed.
Trees collaborated with his longtime partner (shown seated with Mike Benedum in Miami Beach) on the construction of The Benedum Trees Building in 1905 where they shared an office. Trees and Benedum made millions of dollars in the early 1900?s in various oil ventures.
Our sale includes many treasures from the Trees home Treesdale Manor in Gibsonia. The home was kept much as it was in Joe Trees lifetime.
