Craftsman/Early 20th Century Auction

Rago's, New Jersey's leading auction house, heralds the opening of the 2009-2010 season with a double header auction of Roseville and Craftsman/Early 20th C. design. The Craftsman auction, with a great number of lots for design- and budget-conscious buyers, is set for Saturday, September 26 at Noon following an 360 lot sale of Roseville and other Ohio potteries on Friday, September 25 at Noon. Saturday, September 26: American Art pottery is, as ever, a stalwart at Rago's. Headline lots include several exceptional vases by Grueby, John Bennett, Teco, Rookwood, Doulton (Lambeth) and North Dakota School of Mines. Art tiles feature fine examples of Grueby and Saturday Evening Girls tiles. Arts and Crafts furniture of import includes a Limbert vanity and a L. & J.G. Stickley even-arm settle. The sale features art glass in the leading styles of the time from Lalique and Steuben and a variety of lighting fixtures from Handel and Bradley & Hubbard among others. Metalwork of the period is represented by Liberty and several other Arts & Crafts makers. Also look for a good collection of southern face jugs and ugly jugs, by Lanier Meaders and others and woodblock prints, paintings and drawings, including work by Frances Gearhart and George Hardy Payne.
