SPACE MEMORABILIA & HOLLYWOOD COLLECTIBLES

SPACE MEMORABILIA AUCTIONS DO EVOLVE! Back in 1993, when Superior held its first Space Memorabilia auction who knew where it would lead? We weren't even sure there was a real market for space memorabilia. There was no Internet, and no way for buyers and sellers to meet each other - hence no marketplace. By providing a true, unbiased marketplace, we are able to bring buyers and sellers together. That brings us to our spring Space sale being held THURSDAY & FRIDAY, APRIL 19th & 20th at our Beverly Hills Gallery. It is the firm's aim to make the Space Memorabilia auctions as professional, interesting and informative as they can possibly be. To that end we have included material in this sale that is head and shoulders above other space sales. We have consignments from astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins and Jean-Loup Chretien; from the Estates of astronauts Gordon Cooper, Deke Slayton and Ed White II; from esteemed collector Rooster Andrews as well as from the internationally known balloonist Don Piccard. Highlights include: an actual FLOWN Japanese 'FUGO' balloon, used by Japan during WW II to bomb the United States; a 1934 cover FLOWN on the Piccard Stratospheric Flight; Gordon Cooper's "Command Astronaut" Wings; the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, presented posthumously to the family of astronaut Ed White II; FLOWN United States Flags carried on ALL Apollo flights; the PROTOTYPE United States Lunar Flag, identical to that left on the lunar surface by the Apollo 11 crew; a complete set of FLOWN "Shuttle" silverware; a flown Russian spacesuit used by cosmonaut Vinogradov; a major MODEL section of handmade rocket models dating from the late 1950s; as well as a large section of FLOWN CHINESE covers.
