Wilke-Dalziel Antiques Estate Auction

Piedmont California Centenarian and Socialite Louise Wilke Dalziel's Estate at Auction! The Lifetime Collector of Art and Antiques was the Daughter of California artist and Shreve Designer William Hancock Wilke. The San Rafael Auction Gallery will be selling the marvelous collection of antiques, furniture, fine art and porcelain lovingly assembled over a lifetime by Louise Wilke Dalziel. As the daughter of prominent California artist and Shreve designer William Hancock Wilke and Parisian trained bookbinder Nellie McConnell Wilke, Louise was surrounded by art and artists her entire life. This early exposure to fine things and interesting people led to a life long passion for antiques, art and entertaining. The auction will feature over 500 lots of English, American, French and European furniture, porcelain, metalwork, glass, lighting, garden statuary and fine art. English and American sterling will be offered including many pieces by her father's firm Shreve and Company. Mrs. Dalziel's passions led her to collect reliquaries and santos figures, schoolgirl samplers, weathervanes and doorstops, inkwells, boxes and fans. Dozens of lots of porcelain, glass and faience will be offered including 18th and 19th century English Derby, Chinese export porcelain, 18th and 19th century French and American glassware, French faience including Quimper. Her art collection was outstanding. A number of California paintings by her father William Hancock Wilke will be offered to the market for the first time. Preview for the sale will be Friday, February 2nd from noon until 8 p.m and February 3rd from 8-10 a.m. All lots are available for preview on the gallery website For more information contact Burt Hem at 415-457-4488 or info@sanrafaelauction.com.
