Hudson Valley Auctioneers early spring sale includes the contents of several long held storage units, an old Scarsdale mansion, two Piermont estates and items originally from a large Southampton waterfront estate . The sale opens with a continuation of a collection of Chinese scrolls and calligraphy which yielded several surprises in our February sale. Other Asian items including fine porcelain miniature vases, a scenic circular plaque some jade and a Tang style horse. A selection of 19th century furniture and accessories are followed by artworks including the first group of Paul Draper photographs, 10 miniature oils by Enrique Atalaya, a John Grey oil, an oil of a marsh scene by Louis Aston Knight and a Henry Lawrence Faulkner oil with exhibition label among others. A Mid Century group includes works by Probber, Mont, as well a possibly unique dining table and chairs by artist Ken Nishi acquired from the family in Rockland County. A large framed Lurcat rooster, an interesting 1973 Rhodes kinetic copper fountain, a Williams "Suspense" pinball machine are other highlights from the period. Lots of country pieces from the Piermont house and a moose head labeled James L. Clark are followed by a large group of signed glass, bronze, Tiffany, silver and jewelry, clocks and the like. From the Southampton lot a nice mix of antique Chinese furniture, Stickley Audi, four exceptional Dali lithographs, lighting and 19th century English furniture and accessories precede the final batch of decorated stick spatter from Scarsdale and several estate oriental carpets which finish Session One and the online portion of the evening. Off line session immediately follows with more carpets, lighting and Empire and Victorian furniture as well as groups of mid century mixed with fine china and glass; a continued offering of great smalls, Chinese furniture and artworks of all kinds.
