ABOUT HANTMANS: Founded in 1994, Hantman’s specializes in estate services and serves the greater Metropolitan Washington area and East Coast down to Florida. Hantman’s offers four types of auction services: (1) nationally and internationally advertised catalogue auctions for high-end property, (2) frequent non-catalogue auctions for collectible and general household contents, (3) specialized subject auctions, and (4) on-site auctions. Hantman’s has sold prominent estates from the United States and Europe, including property from historic homes, institutions and museums. In a typical catalogue auction, property includes American and European jewelry, silver, furniture, porcelain and ceramics, glass, fine art, orientalia, fireplace accessories, sculpture and textiles. In a typical year, Hantman’s holds 5-6 catalogue auctions and as many non-catalogue auctions. Property is advertised in the prominent antique trade publications in the United States and abroad and with corresponding collector clubs and associations. During catalogue auctions, absentee and telephone bidding services are provided to clients who register by (1) filling out the Bidder Registration Form and (2) signing and faxing back the Conditions of Sale Form. After the auction, assistance is provided for shipping property as a courtesy to clients. Hantman’s works with several ICC registered shippers for prompt return of property released once funds clear. Hantman's Services ESTATES AND TRUST SERVICES Hantman’s specializes in estate and trusts and is dedicated to working with executors and professional fiduciaries on multiple levels. Our estate and trust department provides confidential advice and assistance relating to estate tax appraisal preparation, family division of tangible assets, charitable donation and, if required, the disposal of estate property at auction. Written appraisals for estate tax, charitable donation and family division are done by Hantman’s qualified staff of certified senior appraisers, all members of either the American Society of Appraisers or the International Society of Appraisers and covering numerous disciplines. Our staff of specialists can also review estate property for potential liquidation and recommend appropriate auctions and/or alternate sale venues both domestically and abroad. Part of this service includes developing a comprehensive marketing plan . As record maintenance is of utmost importance to estate and trust officers, Hantman’s provides detailed inventories of property sold at auctions or by private treaty. APPRAISAL SERVICES Certified Appraisals. A large part of Hantman’s estate business involves Estate Appraisals. The specialists on Hantman’s professional staff are certified appraisers and senior members of either the American Society of Appraisers or the International Society of Appraisers. As such, they routinely perform appraisals for estate and trust attorneys, banks, museums, insurance companies, collectors, and home owners. Appraisal services cover a wide range: estate tax, divorce/marital division, family planning, bankruptcy, insurance, charitable donation. Charitable Appraisal Day Fundraisers. Hantman’s regularly avails itself around the auction calendar to numerous groups for Appraisal Day fundraisers. These enjoyable events typically involve a specialized lecture of interest and valuation services of property brought by attendees who pay a fee which is donated to the host organization. Organizations include national political organizations, religious organizations and women’s groups, to name a few. CONSIGNMENT SERVICES Large and small estates provide the core of Hantman’s auctions. However, consignments may consist of a single item or an entire collection. Hantman’s provides free auction estimates to prospective consignors, either by inspecting the property first hand or via photographs. Distance should not be a concern to prospective consignors. Hantman’s works with a nation-wide network of transporters. Full insurance is arranged before property is picked up.
