This superb old Igbo male figure, around 40 to 60 years old. The male sculpture has a monkey perched on his head, and he is safeguarding a young kid. This sculpture symbolizes the opposing forces of good and evil, and reinforces the belief that ancestor and culture heroes protect the well-being of family and community. Religiously addressed in cult shrines, the sculpture's good-will is propagated with offerings to ensure a productive harvest, healthy births, and moral and socially acceptable behavior.
